Battery storage

Solar battery storage.
Energy for later.

Store energy for when it is useful to you. Compare self-consumption, time-of-use flexibility and properly designed backup before deciding on a battery.

The useful answer

Will a solar battery keep the power on in an outage?

Only a system designed for backup can supply agreed loads during an outage. Check inverter capability, isolation, usable battery capacity and the selected circuits. Battery capacity alone does not establish whole-home backup or a promised runtime.

A system that makes sense

Consider the whole picture.

01

Capacity that fits

Usable energy in kWh affects how much you can store. Power output in kW affects which appliances can run at the same time.

02

Compatibility first

Adding storage to existing solar depends on the inverter, electrical design and equipment compatibility. A retrofit assessment comes first.

03

Backup, clearly defined

Backup needs compatible equipment and an agreed circuit design. Confirm which loads will run, for how long, and at what power.

What to consider

Good energy.
Thought through.

Start with practical questions. Your proposal should make the scope, options and assumptions clear.

Use energy later

A battery can shift surplus daytime generation into your evening routine. Its value depends on how often you can charge and use it.

Compare the added cost

Solar without storage may be the right starting point. Compare the extra battery investment with your expected energy use and resilience goals.

Choose the installation location

Battery placement must suit the product requirements and applicable installation rules. Access, clearances and environmental conditions matter.

Before you decide

Ask the useful questions.

Will solar work on cloudy days?

Panels can generate in diffuse daylight, but output falls with cloud cover and is lower in winter. Shading, roof direction and local conditions all affect the energy your system produces.

Can I sell surplus electricity?

With the right grid connection, metering and retailer plan, surplus generation can be exported. Buy-back rates, export limits and fees vary. Compare the whole electricity plan, including import rates and daily charges.

Will my power stay on in an outage?

A standard grid-connected solar system shuts down during a power cut. Backup requires compatible equipment, isolation and an appropriate circuit design. A battery alone does not guarantee whole-home backup.

Do I need a battery?

No. Solar can operate without a battery. Storage may help when your use is mostly in the evening or you want designed backup capability. Compare the extra cost against your actual needs.
